This follows some discontent among would-be bargain hunters, who'd noted that US chain Best Buy was selling 16GB Touchpads for $99 ($60) while the UK retail price remained above £300. In Australia, the Harvey Norman chain was reported to have sold out its stock of 4800 units in an hour after putting its 16GB models on sale at AU$89 (£56)

Meanwhile, a group calling itself Touchdroid has said it will port Android to the HP hardware.

  • DSG has just said that they've sold out of 32GB devices.

  • 35 of our staff have just bought them in the fire sale, i've declined from giving them my opinion. Although my wife has bought more expensive doorstops in her life.

  • Oh dear! I missed out while trying, unsuccessfully, to get my Broadcom 4313 wireless adapter working in Zenwalk. I'm ticked off. Perhaps I'll give Zenwalk the heave ho - bad vibes and not much use without a wireless connection

I really wanted the HP Touchpad for my daughter for her lectures at University, instead of reams of paper to be printed out each time.

I can't afford the usual prices, but I see that residual stock and recycled fire sale purchases are going for ~£250+...., but I would feel cheated buying someone else's bargain purchase at somewhat over a100% mark up.

    Grrr.
