I had a similar problem the other day, except instead of bringing up irrelevant links it just froze IE entirely. IE seemed to load pages just fine until I entered something into a form field. A Google search would freeze up IE at least half of the time, and I'd have to end task in Task Manager. I ended up reimaging this machine (thank God for Ghost) after spending hours testing various removal tools to ferret out the best ones, but I finally determined that one of the little buggers stepped on IE and fixing it was damn near impossible.

Now if I think it's going to take more than 45 minutes or so I'll just skip the removal stage altogether, back up the user's data, reimage, restore their data, and have them up and running again with a known clean build.
