Unless Sun can innovate fairly quickly, IBM will continue to squash them in both the hardware and software space. For high end servers, the Power 5 is king of the hill. IBM, not being stupid, offers products using both Intel and AMD chips in addition to their own. IBM sells and supports Microsoft based solutions, java based application suites that run on AIX, Linux or Windows. With Sun, you have a choice of java on Solaris or Linux (and Sun was late to the Linux table as well). I like Sun. Unfortunately, I don't believe that Sun will ever become the mouse that roared. All we will here is the empty promises and baseless nonsense that is constantly spewing forth from McNealy's big mouth. He needs to put up or shut up.
