Very Well Said!
The fact of the matter is that as we simplify an aspect of computer technology, we start building ever more sophisticated solutions on top of it, absorbing the productivity gains we just obtained. This is why e.g. though OOP is much more high level than machine language programming, and contains many advances in technology, programs built with OOP languages are often very complex and many times tedious.

Then there is the inescapable fact that a huge chunk of a programming project has to do with analyzing business processes that an application has to address, then designing a program that coherently addresses all the users? requirements. You cannot just slap features onto an application and believe it will go over well with users. To an extent, designing an application is like making a movie: all the pieces have to flow and work well together, and be coherent.
