Try www.anynotes.com
A couple of months ago I performed a very similar evaluation myself. I have to say, there are many PIMs out there, I tried one note, info select, and other shareware types. I also do desktop database programming, but it wasn't worth my time. The problem with info select I had was the 250 dollar cost. That is way too expensive for a PIM, while there are so many other PIMs out there. So ultimately I went with Anynotes. www.anynotes.com. for much less money I have a open PIM (albiet without a e-mail manager) that also has the capability to sync with my PocketPC, and sits in the windows tray.
