It's okay for small uses,
but it's definately not designed for enterprise use.

Filemaker is more than willing to grab information from other data sources, but it WILL NOT share any of it's data without lots of jumping through hoops on both the Filemaker end, and the receiving applications end. The good folks at Filemaker REFUSE to write an ODBC driver that would allow other products to perform a two-way data exchange with Filemaker. Imagine spending time converting a big database over to Filemaker just so you can take advantage of the "simplicity" of creating web forms. Next somebody comes along and says, "Oh yeah, we need to add that mapping program in there also." Now you need to create an export routine from Filemaker to put the data in a format your mapping application can import, then do whatever secondary routines (indexing, etc.) that the mapping application needs to improve performance.

In short, simplicity has a price - lack of functionality and MORE work where none existed before.
