Is Dell serious
I have to agree with the prior reply. Once you figure in the cost of switch ports and associated infrastructure, blades are just plain cheap. Cheap to buy, cheap to maintain, and cheap to manage in ways that can not even be considered with conventional 1U servers. The power of location is an amazing power indeed. Try x86 mainframe computing with 1U servers and watch yourself get lost trying to manage it inside a week.
I am a bit disconcerted by the article overall. This kind of half researched commentary does more to spread FUD than facts. I certainly hope you will put a bit more effort into separating the fact from the FUD in the future - especially when you say you are comparing apples to apples (Dell doesn't seem to sell apples).
