- I think you missed the subject of the article.

The point in the article wasn't to quantify all the actual costs of maintaining and running blade servers vs. 1U servers. It was to notify the community of what Dell announced and verify their cost vs. density claims. And that is what it did. If Dell can do what they say they intend to do there will be greater value in blade systems around the corner. He was not trying to tell people not to buy blades.
