Regardless of whether the information can leave your computer, keystroke loggers in general represent an additional problem: the ability of one program to see the input destined for another program. If I recall correctly, one of the features of Palladium/NGSCB was to implement secure channels by which keyboard input can be delivered securely through the operating system and to the destination program without being accessible to other programs.
