Oh, Puh-leeeeese!!!
"I think Microsoft has done a great job of trying to keep their OS
hack-proof."

Oh, really? Can I interest you in this patch of stinking desert
with a TERRIFIC ocean view?

IT Industry Analysts began warning us about Windblows'
inherent, fundamental security weaknesses MORE THAN FIFTEEN
YEARS AGO, and instead of taking this well-founded,
constructive criticism and IMPROVING their products as they've
revised them over the years, MS has consistently demonstrated
their total disdain for their customers (and the entire computing
/ internet community) by relentlessly churning out software that
is EASY TO ATTACK AND EXPLOIT!

Don't kid yourself - MS's market dominance is only PART of the
reason that their software is the target of all these malicious
hackers - the other and IMO more significant part is that MS
software is INCREDIBLY POORLY DESIGNED from a security
perspective and is the 'Holey Grail' for these techno-vandals; it's
practically an open invitation to anyone w/ even a moderate
level of intelligence and minimal skills who has this kind of
mindset.

I'm not one of those zealots who believes that if 'UNIX and
variants had MS's market share, all of this would disappear', NO
OS IS BULLETPROOF, and if the 'roles' were reversed, I'm sure we
would still see SOME of this kind of thing, but IMO, it would be a
TINY PERCENTAGE of what we're seeing now, b/c only the
REALLY CLEVER hackers would succeed at it, instead of the
zillions of 'script kiddies' and casual mischief-makers who are
annoying (or worse) all the rest of us almost every day now.
