Bangalore and Silicon Valley will simultaneously host their first joint hackathon which will see over 200 developers working together to create new collaboration applications.
On the weekend of July 12 and 13, American developers will gather at the nestGSV, Redwood City, California, and team up with their India counterparts at the Microsoft accelerator in Bangalore.
Competitors will build tools using new open APIs, including WebRTC, and the winners will receive further support from Tata Communications until November.
Tata Communications chief marketing officer Julie Woods-Moss said it was important for the developers to collaborate, in order to create more useful, open applications. "Bringing together teams from Bangalore and Silicon Valley for the first time will enable a new creative force in this important sector," Woods-Moss said.
