The market for cloud services in India is projected to grow to $1.3 billion by 2017, according to HP, which sees the biggest potential in SMBs, education, manufacturing and distribution sectors.

"Analysts have put the current market size for cloud services in India at US$600 million. This is growing at a compounded annual growth rate of 33 percent," said Ramachandran V, country manager for Converged Infrastructure and Cloud Solutions - Cloud systems of Hewlett-Packard India.

He pointed out SMB demand would be huge as they moved their complete computing requirements over to the cloud. "Besides, telecom companies, education, manufacturing and distribution sectors are consuming cloud services," Ramachandran added.

Another big driver is the government which has been pushing cloud comsumption across various states with their own data centers to host their internal data.
