Microsoft is aiming to attract some 25 million new Indian users over the next 12 months to its cloud services, including products such as Office 365 Personal, Bing, Skype and OneDrive, according to PTI.

The cloud-based Office 365 Personal is billed as a more relatively affordable option, and is available for use across Windows and Mac desktops as well as mobile, for 3,299 rupees (US$54.90) a year or 330 rupees (US$5.50) per month.

"Increasingly consumers are looking to do more with their devices and relying more on the services that power these devices. Today's consumers are seeking a more optimized experience across their phone, tablet and PC," Chakrapani Gollapali, Microsoft India's country general manager for consumer channels group told PTI.

He added that Microsoft was targeting to garner 25 million new India users for such cloud services, and expects the majority of the growth to be from smartphones.

In Q3 earnings released last month, Microsoft saw a better than expected quarter boosted by Office 365 subscriptions and enterprise upgrades from XP.
