Infor announced Tuesday a new company partnership with defense contractor behemoth BAE Systems, a deal that could boost the ERP provider's presence in government agencies and armed forces, specifically in the United Kingdom.

The deal with BAE follows up on Infor's industry-specific strategy that it teased back in March when it moved the cloud deployment platform to Amazon Web Services. Last month the software giant released CloudSuite Aerospace & Defense platform.

Under the terms of the deal, BAE will install and operate Infor systems — such as Hansen, ION, Lawson and Approva — that are purchased by federal agencies. Infor's platforms will then be integrated with BAE's human resources and payroll systems, for example.

BAE Systems said its Military Air and Information business is integrating Infor applications across numerous business locations in the U.K., with completion of the project expected in 2016. It seems like there is also intention to roll out the systems to certain U.S. agencies, although no details were immediately provided.

According to Lynn Sauder, VP of Global Alliances and Channels at Infor, the companies will work together on both the customer and partner level going forward.

In addition to the partnership, BAE has invested in a new Infor products lab designed to train BAE technicians, network analysts, operators and engineers on Infor's ERP systems.
