Intel has given ZDNet UK a hands-on tour of the developer preview of the new tablet user interface for the MeeGo Linux operating system at Mobile World Congress.

Intel's Chris Norman demonstrated the system's functionality, such as its touch-friendly menu activation system. Working in 'panels', the OS lets users flick through photos and videos, with different touch options for sharing via email, for instance.

The tablet should be available "before the end of the year", Norman said.
