in brief Internode has now put the same process into place that iiNet did last week, enabling customers to transfer to the internet service provider without weeks of downtime.

Previously, if customers from BigPond, or another telco wholesaling a service on a Telstra DSLAM, tried to move to Internode, they faced the possibility of two weeks internet downtime, unless they decided to opt for another service in the interim.

Telstra had agreed to sign on to the industry's single service transfer agreement last year, with Telstra saying that necessary system changes were rolled out to allow fast customer transfer in October.

iiNet announced earlier this month that it would be able to transfer customers to iiNet faster after Telstra made these system changes. TPG has also enabled faster transfers since Telstra changed its system.
