Jive Software on Tuesday launched its latest release in an effort to tie collaboration and business goals together. The Spring release of Jive's cloud service is based on aggregate best practices from customers.

Specifically, Jive's latest release revolves around virtual work spaces called PurposefulPlaces, which feature integration with Salesforce and Box. The goal is to close sales deals faster and launch marketing campaigns.

These work spaces include "the deal room," which is configured for sales teams to go over contracts, requests for proposals and content. Salesforce is connected into Jive along with records and Chatter so legal and finance can see deal information. Another area is the "campaign room" for marketing.

According to Jive, PurposefulPlaces are configurable and merge activity streams.

Another key feature is Jive's structured outcomes, which takes conversations and converts them into business activities that can be tracked.

Nathan Rawlins, vice president of product marketing at Jive, said the new features were created from customer best practices and improved so they can be readily adopted by new companies to the fold.

In addition, Jive improved its APIs for better integration with other cloud services. For instance, Jive customers can now collaborate on Box documents in Jive with synced comments, upload content, work within Microsoft Outlook and Office and have tablet and phone access.

The new features will be included in Jive's on-premise software later in 2013.
