LenovoEMC rebranding all Iomega network storage, social media products

Summary: The Iomega brand name is on its way out.

LenovoEMC is folding the Iomega brand completely under its umbrella with a single name change.

The joint venture between the PC giant and IT hardware provider is completely rebranding all Iomega network storage products and social media programs.

The name Iomega isn't being erased entirely, but it's very clear that this initiative is banking on the Lenovo brand name, in particular. Thus, the nomenclature changes mark the latest stage in the business plan at LenovoEMC.

Here are a few examples of some of the new names for products on both the consumer and enterprise sides of the business:

  • Lenovo Iomega EZ Media and Backup Center (formerly the Iomega EZ Media and Backup Center)
  • Lenovo Iomega ix series (formerly Iomega StorCenter ix series)
  • Lenovo EMC px Series (formerly Iomega StorCenter px series)

Iomega's social media properties will be completely revised with LenovoEMC listed in the title instead.

The LenovoEMC unit has also inked a new deal with Acronis to integrate True Image 2013 Lite PC backup software on select Lenovo network storage products, including the Lenovo EMC px series, for automatic backup and restoration on Windows PCs.

    Anybody remember the Bernoulli drive?

Zip drives were also fun for a while.
