IT and communications services provider, Logicalis, has today announced its plans to acquire network infrastructure services specialists, NetStar.
The deal is valued at US$19.8 million and will give Logicalis access to the Asia-Pacific market, with NetStar currently employing over 300 people and having offices in Australia, Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, Hong Kong and China.
Logicalis previously had a presence in Australia and New Zealand; however, its Pacific-based offices were acquired by IBM in 2004 for AU$88.5 million.
NetStar specialises in Cisco network integration and includes ninemsn, Melbourne University and NSW Board of Studies as clients.
"This is a significant strategic development for us which immediately opens up new market opportunities in the faster growing economies in Asia-Pacific — a region that is important for both our customers and our strategic partners," Ian Cook, chief executive of Logicalis. "We expect to further build upon the Cisco focused businesses and extend our offering to include datacentre solutions to mirror the other existing Logicalis markets."
Logicalis currently operates in the UK, US, Germany and South America with over 1900 employees.
