There are a lot of keyboard cases for the iPad Air. The thin form of Apple's current iPad calls out for a thin case, and the latest model released by Logitech is very thin for a portfolio.

The Logitech Type+ is a good option for those who bring the tablet to work, as it protects both the front and back of the iPad Air, something cover style keyboards don’t do. It can be used in two modes: laptop mode for typing on the Bluetooth keyboard and tablet mode with the iPad folded over on the keyboard. The ability to use the Type+ as a tablet without removing it from the case can be a timesaver for using it during meetings.

Those wanting a thin case for work will find the Type+ to be such a case. It is only slightly thicker than the iPad Air and appears to be solidly constructed. Logitech claims the portfolio cover is treated with a substance that repels liquids to protect the tablet from minor spills.

Dimensions

  • Height: 10.1 inches (255.9 mm)
  • Width: 7.2 inches (183.4 mm)
  • Depth: 0.71 inch (18.1 mm)
  • Weight: 14.29 ounces (405 g)

According to the company, it has arranged the keys in a manner to make moving from a conventional laptop to the Type+ easier. Keys are placed where you expect them and not moved around to fit the smaller-than-full size of the Type+. This could be useful for the office worker who moves from desktop to iPad during the day. Many keyboards for the iPad have less than ideal key layouts.

To save battery life, rated at three months with normal use, the Type+ automatically turns on when the iPad Air is placed above the keyboard for typing. It also turns off when the folio is closed.

The Type+ is available for pre-order from Logitech at the time of publication for $99.99 and should be shipping soon. Most of Logitech's products are also available from major online and big box stores.
