Logitech is best known for its high-quality consumer-grade peripherals, but recently formed a business group, Logitech for Business, to market the more business-oriented products in its portfolio to SMEs and larger enterprises. There will also be new products under the 'for business' banner, among the first of which, announced today, is the BCC950 ConferenceCam. The BCC950 is a portable all-in-one HD webcam and speakerphone designed for small groups (up to four or so) of unified communications (UC) or web conferencing users.
The BCC950 ConferenceCam comprises an HD video camera capable of 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second (fps), with motorised pan, tilt and zoom (PTZ) controllable either from the base or via the supplied remote control. The camera, whose Carl Zeiss lens has a 78-degree field of view, can pan over 180 degrees and has a 55-degree tilt capability. The remote has a 10-foot (3m) range.
The base unit contains a full-duplex omnidirectional speakerphone with PTZ, call, end, microphone mute and volume controls, as well as a 3.5mm audio jack and a USB 2.0 port. The UVC H.264-compliant ConferenceCam, which is Microsoft Lync-optimised and Skype-certified, will work with most UC and web conferencing platforms — including ClearSea from LifeSize, a Logitech-owned company.
The typical usage scenario for the lightweight (568g) and portable ConferenceCam is for enabling ad hoc (but good-quality) video conferencing sessions for small groups in any meeting room with a computer and an internet connection.
Logitech's BCC950 ConferenceCam will be available in May from a range of business-focused resellers, at £199.99.
