Samsung is the king of the Android platform and its line of Galaxy Tab tablets is now attracting the attention of major accessory makers. Logitech is introducing a line of cases and keyboards for the Galaxy Tab line for the first time.

The new line of cases from Logitech includes a keyboard case for the Tab 10.1 and three cases sans keyboard for the three tablets of varying sizes from Samsung.

The Logitech® Ultrathin Keyboard Folio for Samsung Galaxy Tab® is a folio case with keyboard, similar to the company's offering for the iPad. It is designed to be used with the Galaxy Tab 10.1 as both a case with the Bluetooth keyboard that can be used as needed. It should be available in October from Logitech for $99.99.

The three cases making up the portfolio case line are the Logitech® Folio Protective Case for Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1, 8.0 and 7.0. These cases are designed to handle the knocks of mobile use, including water resistancy to protect from spills.

“With these new cases, we’ve taken Logitech’s deep expertise in creating protective, aesthetically pleasing tablet accessories and for the first time brought it to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3,” said Mike Culver, vice president and general manager of mobility at Logitech. “Our goal with any tablet accessory is to perfect even the smallest details to enhance the consumers’ experience. From water-repellant materials to comfortable keyboard layouts, the Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Folio and Logitech Folio do just that.”

The folio cases will be available from Logitech in October for $49.99.

The third-party accessory ecosystem for Apple's iPad has long been an advantage for that tablet. Hopefully this move by Logitech to support the Samsung tablets indicates a move that will be followed by other accessory makers.

  • How about the earlier Tab 10.1 and Note 10.1 devices

The Tab3 is disappointing but the Tab 2 and still excellent Note 10.1 devices could benefit.
    • Tab 3 only

All the information I have from Logitech reflects the Tab 3 only. I'm not even sure the folio here will work with the Galaxy Note 8.0, although I suspect it will.
