Many non-security updates released for Windows and Office

In addition to releasing five security updates, Microsoft today released 16 non-security update, plus an update to their root certificate list and a new version of the Malicious Software Removal Tool.

Microsoft also released several non-security updates for Office 2010 and Office 2013.

The more recent versions of Windows are affected by more updates. The three affecting Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008 affect all versions of Windows and reflect no particular attention paid to them.

Below is a list of the updates released. Note that WSUS and Catalog deployments do not apply to Windows RT or Windows RT 8.1, as these operating systems cannot join domains.

  After the download, this tool runs one time to check your computer for infection by specific, prevalent malicious software (including Blaster, Sasser, and Mydoom) and helps remove any infection that is found. If an infection is found, the tool will display a status report the next time that you start your computer. A new version of the tool will be offered every month. If you want to manually run the tool on your computer, you can download a copy from the Microsoft Download Center, or you can run an online version from microsoft.com. • Update for Root Certificates for Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP (KB931125)

  This item updates the list of root certificates on your computer to the list that is accepted by Microsoft as part of the Microsoft Root Certificate Program. Adding additional root certificates to your computer enables you to use Extended Validation (EV) certificates in Internet Explorer, a greater range of security enhanced Web browsing, encrypted e-mail, and security enhanced code delivery. This update also removes a number of root certificates that use 1024 bit RSA keys and are no longer deemed secure. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer. Once you have installed this item, it cannot be removed.
