Microsoft's Herbold lands SIIA board position

Summary: Microsoft Corp. Executive Vice President Bob Herbold has finally landed a seat on the board of directors of the software industry's biggest trade group.

Herbold has been elected to the board of the Software & Information Industry Association, or SIIA. The group was formed out of a merger between the Information Industry Association and the Software Publishers Association, or SPA. The SPA has repeatedly taken positions criticising Microsoft's dominant position in the industry, and last year, its members voted against adding Herbold to the board.
