The new Apple iPad went on sale today in retail stores around the country to a flood of enthusiasm, singing, chanting and dancing. Nerdcam was there to catch the Apple antics on camera.

Apple threw open the doors to the Sydney flagship store this morning to sell the new iPad, complete with Retina Display, new camera and beefed-up processor, to customers who had been lining up for days.

If you thought that the enthusiasm of Apple staff would begin to wane after the death of Steve Jobs, take a minute to watch just how special they make these customers feel, using everything from dancing, whooping, cheering and clapping right through to getting a soccer chant up for the new tablet owners.

Is this something you want from a retail experience?

  • And who says it's only cults that use brainwashing and mental manipulation. The term "lemmings" comes to mind.

  • Exactly the sort of thing that would turn me off going there. But there again I'm not the sort of person who feels the need to buy a $1000 video player to impress people

    • While I agree lining for an item that does not have a limited supply is pretty silly, calling an iPad a "$1000 video player" is equally silly.

    • Are the iPhobes running toward or away from the Apple store?

  • No.

  • It is so sad, watching these people spending days lining up for a gadget. Idolatry anyone?
