in brief The National Broadband Network Company (NBN Co) has selected a panel of recruiters charged with the job of adding 1000 new employees to the company over the next 12 months.

After accepting applications from over 300 different recruitment agencies, 17 recruitment companies that specialise in technical operations, construction, telco/IT, and corporate recruitment were selected. These includes BDS People, Charterhouse, Integrated, Skilled, Launch Recruitment, Data 3, Clarius, Paxus, Astrum, DFP and Vantage.

NBN Co's head of corporate services Kevin Brown said that as the construction of the $35.9 billion project ramps up, NBN Co needs to focus on specific skilled recruitments it needed to add to the company, which already employs over 700 people.

"As we shift from planning to constructing and operating the network our requirements increase and we expect to hire an additional 1000 employees over the next 12 months. Having a well-credentialed panel of experts complements our internal database of over 15,000 individuals who have applied to work at NBN Co," he said.

  • This sooo reminds me of the Optus start up in the early 90's. Next we will be told the NBN billing system will be based on "worlds best practice" and yes I realise NBN is supposed to be the wholesaler.

  • C,mon FUDsters where are you all, to whinge about the 1000 new jobs being created, for your fellow Aussies...

Oh that's right, you DGAF about anyone but yourselves and it should be "at least" 1001 jobs I suppose?

  • Gee,

Having "NBN CO" on your resume. Think is sounds great? I think the rest of the industry wouldn't feed you once it collapses.

Most of us know they are sitting back, counting big 6 figures pay packets for a public service, and people who the rest of the industry wanted to get rid of.

Will being hilarious once they all lose it, and end up trying to push "NBN CO" credentials...

  • Comment made from Theguy. Seems like you got left behind and didnt make the cut. As an Outsider looking in they have the cream of the crop so stop kidding yourself. Half of Optus,Alcatel Lucent,IBM etc etc have lost thier top notch recruits.
