NetSuite partners with CapGemini, Autodesk, eyes manufacturing companies

NetSuite on Tuesday announced partnerships with CapGemini for procurement and Autodesk for manufacturing as the company aims to broaden its enterprise resource planning footprint. The company also introduced a Built for NetSuite program for software partners.

The news, detailed by NetSuite CEO Zach Nelson at the company's Suite World conference in San Jose, highlights how the company is beginning to target larger enterprises. Traditionally, NetSuite has targeted mid-market companies.

During a keynote in San Jose, Nelson outlined the latest addition of SuiteCommerce and added that Williams Sonoma has rolled out NetSuite's e-commerce suite, which is designed for B2C and B2B companies. Williams Sonoma CIO John Strain said NetSuite is its core platform to aggregate international and U.S. multichannel retailing. 

Strain said that the bake-off boiled down to NetSuite due to time to market as well as the connections between back-end systems and the Web site. "What's dead is the old ERP of retail," said Nelson. 

Williams Sonoma, with more than $4 billion in annual revenue, highlights how NetSuite is moving up market. To drive the focus on larger companies home, Nelson also highlighted how NetSuite is working with Qualcomm.

Among the key developments:

  • NetSuite is partnering with Capgemini on systems integration and procurement. Specifically, NetSuite will be integrated with Capgemini's IBX procurement platform and supplier network. The partnership brings source-to-contract, procure-to-pay and contract management to NetSuite. Capgemini's business process outsourcing group will also use NetSuite to power its BPO Virtual Company software. Via Capgemini, NetSuite will gain exposure to larger companies.
  • The company also outlined its next-gen manufacturing service. NetSuite's latest manufacturing functionality includes processes such as availability to promise, standard cost and work-in-progress.
  • In addition to the new manufacturing tools, NetSuite partnered with Autodesk to integrate the company's cloud ERP system with Autodesk's PLM 360. The two companies will connect cloud product life cycle management and ERP systems.
  • A Built for NetSuite program is designed to make sure partners develop so-called SuiteApps according to best practices and standards. NetSuite will review the apps that get the Built for NetSuite tag. Initial partners under the Built for NetSuite program include Accello, Arena Solutions, Autodesk, Box, Cebos, Dell/Boomi, Docusign, Explore Consulting, Infinet Cloud Solutions, Merchant e-Solutions, OZ Development, Piracle and Plum Development. The initial plan is to focus on the top 40 NetSuite apps, said Nelson. 

The big picture is that NetSuite is moving to target larger companies in manufacturing. That move is designed to specifically target SAP and Oracle customers with a larger impact on the former.
