New iPad Mini 2 video shows second-generation enclosure - Jason O'Grady

A second new video by YouTube user unboxtherapy claims to show an assembled iPad mini 2 enclosure and compares it to the current generation iPad mini.

Unlike the iPad 5 leak, which shows a dramatically narrower and boxier industrial design, the iPad mini 2 enclosure in the video looks almost identical to the iPad mini 1. In fact, every dimension is identical to the iPad mini 1.

Many people, including Luke in the video, believe that the new iPad mini 2 will ship with a Retina display to better compete with the new high-res Nexus 7 tablet, but it's impossible to confirm that based on the parts in the new video.

Here's the video, so you can judge for yourself:

  • Somebody messed up

This was supposed to have the dimensions changed. Well there's still the *new* bigger iPad Maxi coming out so hardware makers and Apple can sell more new cases, covers, keyboards for that.

  • A new enclosure

that's the same as the old one.

Where do I pre-order, actually screw that, I'm starting the line outside the local istore.

Do your neighbours complain about the stench of desperation radiating from your workspace?

  • Can't buy what I'd like!

Wish I could get the Note 8....but way limited selection of low end tabs through Verizon...and Samsung doesn't market very aggressively. There are lots of places without streaming wi-fi and you need data and the tabs are so limited! So I will have to get a mini for the versatility.

  • The article ASSUMES there will be a plastic-backed iPhone

Now, what will they say if there isn't?

    Again, much ado about nothing.
