News Burst: Sun spots move into Microsoft's Office space
Unix stalwart Sun Microsystems has confirmed its acquisition of office suite software specialist Star Division, and has decided to offer flagship StarOffice 5.1 applications for immediate free download.
Arch-rival Microsoft was already expected to be wary of the acquisition, which more than hinted at a move by Sun into the office software space -- an area dominated by Microsoft's ubiquitous Office suites.
