Australian Burger King cautious on virtual ordering

Burger King Australia says it doesn't have the supply complexity to warrant introducing the new system, having only about 60 stores nationwide.
"We have no plans to introduce that system but obviously we’ll watch that trial in the US with great interest," a spokesperson for the company told ZDNet Australia.
Burger King and its US purchasing agent, Restaurant Services, hope the new system will simplify communications between its 8,000 stores, 13 distributors and 400 suppliers in the US, according to a recent ZDNet report. They hope to reduce errors and improve planning with distributors and suppliers by analysing electronic data for trends and problems.
The system will be installed in 1,000 US restaurants during the next three months, with the goal to have 5,000 restaurants using the system within two years. The main challenge is that many Burger King restaurants are not equipped with PCs and Internet access.
