China breaks up Black Hawk hacking ring

Summary

Chinese authorities have broken a hacking-tool dissemination ring, according to state media.
Police in the central Hubei province arrested three people suspected of running the Black Hawk Safety Net, state news agency Xinhua reported on Monday.

The Black Hawk Safety Net disseminated hacking tools and Trojans to its members, said Xinhua. The group had collected seven million yuan ($1,000,000) in membership fees from 12,000 subscribers by the time it was shut down. The group had an additional 170,000 members who had joined for free, said Xinhua.

As well as the arrests, the police also seized nine servers, five computers, a Honda Accord and 1.7 million yuan in assets.

Funny that, Most internet security experts will
tell you that 90% of the hacking coming out of
China is done under the authority of the
government. This was even mentioned on a recent
broadcast on NPR around the time of the attacks
    against Google.

to Mech_BB, in fact most hacking in the world coming from western countries. CIA is the biggest player behind them. You really think you are enjoying the freedom, don't you?

  • CIA ... Really?
The CIA really? I suggest you read a book on
hacking such as Fatal System Error by Joseph Menn.
And watch less movies; read fewer conspiracy
blogs. The truth is so much more interesting than
fictionalized fear; and more useful too.

  • Yeah, I thought that too...
$1,000,000,000 and you guys can't afford separate vehicles?

But maybe they thought it would raise suspicion. China isn't exactly a classless society and if your not one of the elite a lot of luxury items would probably be really suspicious.

I have blocked China, Russia (includes new countries) and Brazil. I have more attacks from any ONE of these countries than all others combined - including the USA.
