A new survey found that 75 percent of online consumers abandon shopping carts. The study, conducted by BizRate.com and the NPD Group Inc., found that 31 percent of those who abandoned carts simply changed their minds about the purchase, while 24 percent balked at the shipping and handling costs. But merchants should hold out some hope -- 61 percent said they eventually bought the item, either offline, at a later point online, or from another site. --Margaret Kane, ZDNet News
