Editor's Note
Summary: Editor's Note about FUD-Busters: When we sat down to design ZDNet's Linux site, we asked a select group of "card-carrying" members of the Linux community for ideas on how we could best serve their information needs. The discussions led to the idea of a Linux FUD-Buster -- a way for the Linux community to respond to any story that it might find objectionable and to have that response as posted as prominently as the original story.
The discussions led to the idea of a Linux FUD-Buster -- a way for the Linux community to respond to any story that it might find objectionable and to have that response as posted as prominently as the original story. We think it's important to show that we're open to criticism and so, without hesitation, this idea became an integral part of our plan for this Linux site.
So now, we are on the lookout for stories from our sister news organizations that might raise an eyebrow or two. Before posting them here, we will solicit a response. Flaming may make you feel better, but it ultimately undermines your message. For that reason, we ask for objective responses that specifically address those points in the original story that are worthy of a counterpoint.
If you'd like to be considered for FUD-Busting duty, please send e-mail to me at david_berlind@zd.com and I will gladly add you to my distribution list.
