EFF challenges 'bogus' VoIP patent
Summary
Topics
On Wednesday, the EFF, a civil liberties organization that works to protect rights in the digital world, filed a re-examination request to the US Patent and Trademark Office, stating it had discovered a prior patent, as well as published reference material, that should invalidate a patent granted to a company called Acceris. The patent granted to Acceris describes how VoIP technology can be used to make calls to and from traditional analogue telephones.
The reference material EFF found is expected to prove the technology described in Acceris's patent was already patented before it filed its claim.

Hmmm...I wonder if I could get a patent on filing patents?
Just think...the whole world would then owe me money. Gotta start working on that right away.

About time common sense took hold of the patent office.... an investigation into possible fraud/bribes paid to get these patents validated in the first place might not be out of place.
