Braun, 46, was fired in April from his post as chairman of ABC Entertainment Television Group, a division of Walt Disney. According to The Los Angeles Times, he was ousted at a time when network had just two shows in television's top 30. Among the other former jobs on his resume are chairman of Disney's Buena Vista Television Productions, president of Brillstein-Grey Entertainment, and partner at the law firm of Silverberg, Katz, Thompson & Braun.
Braun's hiring underscores Yahoo's growing effort to establish itself as a larger player in the media industry. In recent months, the company has signed several deals to provide related Web content for popular television shows such as NBC's "The Apprentice" and CBS' "Survivor."
The executive has a number of well-known shows attached to his name, including HBO's "The Sopranos," for which he is credited with developing the series' original concept, and ABC's "Desperate Housewives." Braun is also considered one of the driving forces behind ABC's push into reality television.
