IBM on Tuesday announced a new service designed to help small businesses secure their computer network. Aimed at companies with fewer than 500 employees, the IBM Express Managed Security Services for Firewall and VPN provides a firewall, the capability to connect multiple locations, and remote access using Virtual Private Network, or VPN, technology.

As part of the service, Big Blue will deliver an appliance that can be managed remotely by IBM. Virtually no information technology skills are required for setup, the company said. The service is slated to be available in the U.S. and most of Europe at the end of July. Pricing for a typical 100-employee business starts at $95 per location per month. A free 30-day trial is available.
