Intuit's Web sites hit by major outage
Summary
Topics
Intuit's core Web site and its QuickBooks and Quicken online sites have suffered a major outage, rendering them offline and unavailable since 7 p.m. PDT on Tuesday.
A representative from Intuit's corporate communications, Diane Carlini, confirmed to CNET News that the company is aware of the outage. She said the cause of the outage is unknown at this point but that the company's first priority is to restore the site and make sure customers have access to their data as soon as possible.
The outage has affected Intuit's main Web site, its QuickBooks Online site, and Quicken Online site. Attempts to view any of the sites bring up an error page or a page that says: "This web site is currently unavailable. We are working to restore it as quickly as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please check back shortly."

Glad I keep my Quicken data local and backed up every time I turn off the PC.

Ahh, the wonders of the cloud. Won't it be wonderful when everyone is storing all of their irreplaceable data on some server over which they have no control and no say...

RE: Intuit's Web sites hit by major outage
How can you *NOT KNOW* what is causing your website to not be up and running? This makes no sense! Look, you only have three things to look at:
1) the network
2) the web software/database
3) the web content
item 1 is easy to check...can you ping the server? Check!
Item 2, Is Apache/IIS services running? Databases online? Check!
item 3, did any content change between working and not working? Check!
There you are...all troubleshooting is done!
