JBoss, which is an exhibitor at the JavaOne conference in San Francisco this week, said that Novell in the fourth quarter of this year will provide technical support for customers that use Novell's Extend Java server software products in conjunction with JBoss' Java application server. JBoss also said that it will create a research center called JBossLabs. The first project will include the creation of a "rich client framework," a system for programming applications that have full graphics capabilities and can run on a Web browser. JBoss also signed an agreement to make its caching software work with Sleepycat Software's Berkeley DB open-source database.
