Microsoft urges its investors to write Congress

WASHINGTON -- Microsoft Corp.'s (Nasdaq:MSFT) millions of investors have been richly rewarded by its success. Now, with a ruling imminent in the company's antitrust trial, it is asking for their help. In a letter to shareholders, Microsoft's chief operating officer, Robert Herbold, appealed for support against the government, warning that "litigation and government intervention ... could choke off innovation and threaten the continued vitality of our industry as a whole." He doesn't mention the pending lawsuit in federal court here, filed last year by the Justice Department and 19 states. Full story. --Wall Street Journal
