Summary

Agile Messenger 3.0 improves interface, adds multimedia messaging and "Push-to-Talk."
AgileMobile.com, a developer of mobile software and solutions, on Tuesday launched Agile Messenger 3.0, an instant-messaging service designed for cell phones, PDAs, and other mobile devices.

The client promises compatibility with all Brew, Java, Palm OS, Symbian, WAP-enabled, Windows Mobile, and Windows Mobile Smartphone devices. It supports simultaneous connectivity with the AIM, ICQ, MSN, Wireless Village, and Yahoo IM networks, meaning users can connect with multiple IM accounts at the same time using an interface that runs in the background.

The new version features interface improvements, multimedia messaging capabilities, and AgileMobile.com's Push-to-Talk technology. The latter enables users to send voice messages from their mobile devices -- much like using a walkie-talkie, AgileMobile.com said -- to IM contacts who are using their own mobile devices or their PCs. If a recipient is offline, the voice message is stored for later retrieval.

Agile Messenger 3.0's updated interface employs a split-screen display with individual tabs for viewing multiple conversations. It also records full conversation histories and supports emoticons and Unicode and BIG5 encoding.

AgileMobile.com also offers multi-player and J2ME games.

At press time, Agile Messenger 3.0 was available only for Nokia and Sony Ericsson phones and smart phones. A company representative it would be available soon for other devices. In the meantime, version 2.0 remains available. The software can be downloaded free of charge.
