No free bumpers for iPhone users?
Summary
Topics
Apple apparently has a game plan for dealing with iPhone 4 reception complaints--and it expressly prohibits giving customers free bumpers.
According to a purported list of procedures reportedly leaked to Boy Genius Report, AppleCare representatives are being instructed on how to coach users about the proper way to handle the latest-generation smartphone including no free bumpers.
The latest iPhone went on sale to the public Thursday, and almost immediately users reported a tendency to lose signal strength when holding the phone in their bare left hand. Apple responded by saying this was a common occurrence with any phone and suggested that users "avoid gripping it in the lower left corner in a way that covers both sides of the black strip in the metal band, or simply use one of many available cases."
That's where the bumper comes in. The Apple Store's $29 bumper is a piece of molded rubber and plastic designed to fit on the edge of the phone.

this is getting ridiculous
one would think that zdnet had figured out a way to filter text in spam messages, especially the web addresses.

riduculous
@Linux Geek
Being that this is a computer site you would think someone in there could do something.
Just block Jordan and sunglasses.

Cheap
Those things are not worth $30 at all.
These people could give them out to help with that problem but won't due to greed,
You already got your phone, they already have your money, too bad suckers.
Now fork out another $30 for a bit of rubber to help their problem.

Free solution here with duct tape
Just duct tape the damned phone. Problem solved !

Master plan
Perhaps it's Apple's master plan to sell everything, and at a higher price. Nothing's for free in Apple's life.

Bumpers? Duct Tape? There's an easier solution!
We don't need no friggin' bumpers or duct tape. There's an easier solution!
When you're using your iPhone in church or during Uncle Bob's funeral and somebody invites you to jam it where the sun don't shine, just jam it edgewise instead of lengthwise.
If you jam the phone lengthwise, you'll obviously lose even more signal strength. And won't be able to use it with your head stuck up there too!
