Seesmic, which makes Twitter and Facebook access apps, is buying Ping.fm, a service for updating multiple social services at the same time. Terms of the deal are not being disclosed. Ping co-founders Adam Duffy and Sean McCullough are joining Seesmic and will begin work on integrating their service into the Seesmic clients, said Seesmic CEO Loic Le Meur.

With Ping, you can post to--but not read from--Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Ning, Flicker, and many other networks. The service is accessible from the Ping.fm Web site, from various third-party mobile and desktop clients, as well as from instant messaging services and e-mail. It's a very capable switching station for personal network updates.<.p

A quick look at stats says that Ping.fm is growing, and certainly the multi-network skills that Seesmic is acquiring fit into that company's mission.

  • Intersting story, but...
Interesting story, but there is a much better app on the market:
    http://sereive.com

The major difference is that you cannot only post to one Facebook
account at the same time, but to many. The same applies for Twitter:
post to as many accounts as you want, instantly. And on top you can
post within Facebook to as many walls of groups and pages as you
like, all at the same time, with one click.

    No other app offers this.

And on top, Sereive is a web-based app, that works with all modern
browsers. While its design fits perfectly on an iPhone screen, it works
with all modern mobile devices, PCs and Macs.

Sereive is new on the market. That's why you may not have heard of
    the app.
