Symantec extends HP bundling deal

Symantec has extended its bundling contract with Hewlett-Packard, the world's largest PC maker, the Cupertino, Calif., security firm said in a statement Tuesday. As a result, HP consumer desktop and notebook PCs will continue to ship with a trial version of Norton Internet Security suite, Symantec said. After a free 60-day protection period, users have to pay to renew the service.
Symantec has many deals to bundle its software, including several with PC makers and Web companies. Other deals include those with Cisco Systems to ship Norton Internet Security with all Linksys routers and with Adobe Systems to promote the product alongside Adobe Reader downloads. Symantec also has agreements with Yahoo and Google. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
