Tiny Spanish tablet maker KOs Apple in patent suit

In a ruling that contrasts with Apple's legal domination against Samsung, NT-K successfully defended its products from accusations that the company was 'copying' Apple's iPad, Foss Patents explains.

The claim was filed by Apple in November last year, and saw the Spanish company's shipments from China seized, and its name temporarily placed on an EU-wide list of product pirates. Aside from the commercial dispute, Apple even brought criminal charges against NT-K, a move that Foss Patent's Florian Mueller called, "absolutely outrageous."

Now those claims have been dismissed, and it seems that the little company has lodged an antitrust complaint against Apple, and is suing for compensation for monetary damages, lost profits and "moral damages." NT-K's statement machine-translated from Spanish by 9to5Mac.

  • This is interesting to me

    It is interesting to me because we have many Apple fanbois on this site that take for granted that the moment Apple files a lawsuit that Apple will win the lawsuit. The "guilt" of the other party is never ever in question. The mere fact that Apple has seen fit to sue proves beyond any doubt that Apple is right.

    This is clearly not the case. I will ask our resident Apple fanbois (you know who you are) to remember this case and remember it clearly the next time Apple sues someone. They might win. They might not.

    I simply hope this outcome has humbled a few of you out there although I have to admit, I am fairly certain that you will disappoint me.

  • Teaching Apple a lesson

    It's about time Apple get punched back at their own game. Petty suits are their way of bullying the little guy and this has to stop. There should be an organization founded to protect small businesses in the mobile world. They could stand together against companies like Apple.

      @NickPayne I think they call it the IWank lol<br><br>your not far off they have claimed to invent a rectangle( shape of phone) and the ability to swipe a finger across a surface. The patent you mention is close to the last although multiple swiping gestures are needed... the female version of the patent is indeed dead on with the unlock patent and guess what it does unlock something if the gestures are done right lol.

    I think Microsoft actually owns the patent to masturbation if you look at the long and glorious history of their R&D department alone. Also, don't forget their game changing acquisitions. I mean remember Windows ME, Vista, and MS Bob? If you can't be innovative and create a whole new way to masturbate that does not infringe on others intellectual property then you should not be in the business of masturbation. This is blatant piracy and should not be tolerated. If you wish to enter into a licensing agreement, you can masturbate if you cross license your patents for say "head".
