WebLogic Workshop to get XML tool

Martin LaMonica | August 25, 2003 9:48 PM PDT

BEA Systems said Monday that it will bundle XML (Extensible Markup Language) programming software from Altova with WebLogic Workshop 8.1, its recently launched Java-based development tool.

Altova produces XMLSpy 5, which provides developers with tools to manipulate XML documents and design the format, or schema, of XML-tagged data. The new bundle will let developers use the XML Spy 5 tools from the WebLogic Workshop application, according to San Jose, Calif.-based BEA. Developers who buy WebLogic Workshop 8.1 are provided with the standard XMLSpy 5 WebLogic Edition and get a 30-day free evaluation of XMLSpy 5 Enterprise Edition, which has more functions.
