Win 7 RC bogged down - Twitter's going wild
Summary
Topics
Normally, one would suspect some sort of download overload: everyone eager to get a piece of the action and plain old bandwidth getting in the way. But apparently not: reports from people with good contacts within MS say that today was also the day someone in MSDN decided to install some new authorization code. Which didn't work.
Whether this is true or not, I cannot say. It certainly sounds plausible. But what is undoubtedly true is that the ravening hoards of developers are not to be denied, and even the shiniest, most law-abiding of them are going to the torrents to get their code.
Hm. Downloading a brand-new free operating system over BitTorrent? Who says Microsoft hasn't learned anything from open source?

Well DUH!
Yep, it's been busy. What'd you expect from such a highly anticipated and awesome OS release?
It took me about 1 hour of trying, but I'm downloading it just fine now. And at a good clip too.
If you're suprised or upset by the slowness, please get a life.

Just make sure you MD5 CRC check your download, to be sure it hasn't been tampered with.

BitTorrent is bullcrap. As soon as the leachers complete their download, they drop off.
Downloading from a website, FTP site, or via Newsgroups is faster and more reliable than BitTorrent.
Cry me a river nerds. You are getting a Release Candidate of Windows 7 for free. Calm the heck down until they resolve their technical problems.
Your life is not going to end if you have to wait a day to get the damn OS.

I'm in....
Just started the download at 2pm eastern. No problem. Not as fast as usual but still 300 KB/sec so I am fine with that.

windoze is not worth of bittorent
why would anybody want to overload bittorent by leeching a subpar os?
Heck, is not even piracy since that crippled version is free!

HIghly informed statement
Thank you for the highly informed statment about an OS you've tested extensively, which has allowed you to form said informed opinion.
Now please excuse me while I run any released game while programming in VBA on my linux box... lmfo...

Poor fan boi...
It must be upsetting to know that more copies of Win7 RC were probably downloaded in the first hour than all of Juvenile Jackoffloper.

Growing Old with Microsoft
Windows 7? I've only just got my first Vista (laptop) m/c. And I'm the only one in the company with a Vista system.
Am I getting past it?
Whatever; do you think I've got time to wait while MS sorts out their distribution problems.

RE: Win 7 RC bogged down - Twitter's going wild
I was able to log in and download Windows 7 RC yesterday [April 30] morning around 10:30am PDT. I did have to try twice though; the first time, the download paused at 74% and wouldn't resume. Once I canceled it and started again, it went fine.
