The NSW government has appointed Oracle Australia, NTT Communications, Dataweave, and Qubit Consulting as part of a consortium that will be responsible for deploying a new identity management solution.

The "identity hub" will be delivered via a software-as-a-service architecture to remove the complexities associated with user account administration and password management for NSW government agencies.

It will manage the end-to-end lifecycle of user identities across all NSW government enterprise resources, both within the firewall and into the cloud to allow businesses and citizens accessing government services to be incorporated into the solution.

The hub will be hosted within the government's new GovDC datacentres located at Silverwater and Unanderra on an infrastructure-as-a-service platform provided by NTT Communications. The hub will operate on Oracle's identity management, enterprise data quality, advice security, audit vault and database firewall, data masking products — all of which are ISO 27001 security compliant.

Meanwhile, Dataweave will provide consulting, project management, systems integration and ongoing 24/7 support services for the hub. Qubit Consulting will assist with specialist identity management systems consulting and expertise.

Dataweave managing director Norman Weaver said the hub is intended to improve overall IT security across the government.

"Large organisations often face serious challenges when managing user access to IT systems and data. The NSW government identity hub will make it possible to streamline the administration of user accounts and passwords, while creating a better user experience and tightening security," he said.
