Orange has issued a statement saying that the data outage that began on Wednesday has now been rectified.

On Thursday, ZDNet UK reported on the problems that saw some Orange customers without 3G data access across areas of the country.

"Further to some data access problems witnessed on our network yesterday, we can confirm that normal service has been fully restored," said an Orange spokesperson in a statement on Friday.

However, some Twitter users are still reporting problems accessing the data network.

According to Orange, the outage was caused by "an unusual software issue" that was exacerbated by "separate and localised" hardware failure which resulted in "some, but not all, of our mobile data customers having problems accessing the mobile Internet."

  • Resolved ? I think not no signal of any description since 4pm Friday(now Sunday morning) either in London or Essex, customer services said a local mast was down, does not explain my issues or my pals in Liverpool having no signal either.

How do I get out of the contract ?

  • This has not been resolved, my blackberry is virtually unusable (even as a phone) now at 2am Monday morning. I have recieved 36000 blank emails from Orange and can only use my phone when I turn data services off altogether.

  • Sorry to hear that you're still having problems Andrew (& NN), I'm a bit confused - 36,000 emails!? What kind of emails are they? Directly from Orange customer services? Did you speak to Orange about them? And presumably you received the emails while connected to Wi-Fi?...Certainly sounds a bit excessive, to say the least.....
