Systems integrator Perficient is shoring up its consulting expertise focused on financial services solutions, paying $46 million in cash and stock for ForwardThink Group.

The transaction brings Perficient's annualized revenue close to $430 million, and it adds more than 100 consulting, technology, sales and support professionals to its roster -- growing its presence in New York. Among the acquired company's specialties are business process improvement, payments, finance transformation and risk management.

"Financial services organizations are highly regulated while simultaneously challenged with rising customer expectations, emerging technologies and the need to improve operational efficiencies," said Kathy Henely, chief operating officer of Perficient, commenting on the acquisition. "There is a growing demand from our customers to evolve information technology systems and processes in order to improve business performance."

Perficient has a presence across North America as well as in Eastern Europe, India and China. It holds almost a half-dozen elite partner status credentials, including IBM Premier Business Partner, Microsoft National Systems Integrator and Gold Certified Partner, Oracle Platinum Partner, Gold Salesforce.com Cloud Alliance Partner, TeamTIBCO Partner, and EMC Select Services Team Partner.

The company has acquired a string of smaller consulting companies in the past year including Clear Task and CoreMatrix Systems, both specialists in Salesforce.com services.
