I'm not sure if this is everyone's initial view when you launch the program for the first time, but on at least one install I got a relatively blank screen with instructions to click on a button that wasn't visible (top). For the edification of users who may encounter this, clicking on the triangles at the edges of the screen reveals and hides the different parts of Lightroom's interface; clicking on the left triangle reveals the library pane, with the Import button at the bottom (bottom).
